Structural strength for the widest viscosity range 2KM processes.
Epoxy
Epoxy is one of the most versatile materials 2KM's machines handle - from low-viscosity liquids suited to infusion, RTM and hand lay-up, through to highly viscous pastes for structural bonding and tooling plugs and patterns. Two-component epoxy systems cure to form high-strength, durable bonds across metals, composites, and a wide range of substrates.
Because epoxy spans such a wide viscosity range, the right 2KM machine depends entirely on your specific formulation - see Compatible Machines below.

Material Properties
When you mix the two parts together - the resin and the hardener - a chemical reaction happens that turns the liquid into a solid plastic-like material. Epoxy resin is known for its incredible strength, durability, and resistance to heat and chemicals, making it perfect for repairs, crafts, and construction projects
Typical Viscosities
Low-viscosity liquids through to highly viscous pastes - one of the widest viscosity ranges of any material 2KM processes, which is why epoxy is compatible with more of the PGM range than most other materials.
KEY PROCESSING NOTES
Mix ratios can range widely, from 1:1 through to as high as 100:10 depending on formulation.
Some formulations may need to be de-gassed by the machine to avoid air inclusion in the cured part.
2KM Machines for Epoxy Processing
Because epoxy spans such a wide viscosity range, most of the PGM range is configured to handle it - the right choice depends on your specific formulation's viscosity and how it's supplied.
- PGM 100 Compact / PGM 100 Standard - low-viscosity epoxy, up to 5,000 mPas, for general bonding, potting and casting.
- PGM 200 - mid-to-high viscosity epoxy from pressurised vessels, up to 50,000 mPas.
- PGM 320 - the same viscosity range as the PGM 200, with PC-based control systems ratio monitoring and mass flowmeter data logging for specification-critical applications.
- PGM 400 / PGM 420 - the highest-viscosity epoxy pastes and tooling compounds, dispensed directly from 20 litre pails or 205 litre drums.
- Decanting System - bulk epoxy repackaging into smaller, application / re-sale-ready containers.
Typical Applications
Epoxy's structural strength and wide viscosity range make it suited to a broad set of processes.
Industries Using Epoxy
Epoxy's structural strength makes it a core material across several of 2KM's key industries.
1. Marine - composite hull bonding, structural joints, tooling pastes for plugs and patterns.
2. Aerospace - structural bonding, resin transfer moulding, filament winding.
3. Automotive & Motorsport - structural bonding, composite tooling for motorsport applications.
4. Electronics - potting and encapsulation of components.
SUPPLIER COMPATIBILITY
2KM systems are designed to work with materials from a wide range of manufacturers, giving customers flexibility rather than locking them into a single supplier ecosystem.
Rather than being tied to one brand, customers can confidently use approved epoxy materials from multiple manufacturers across their operation.

Epoxy - FAQs
What is 2-component epoxy used for?
Two-component epoxy is used for structural bonding, resin transfer moulding, infusion, hand lay-up, potting, encapsulation, casting, filament winding and composite tooling - wherever a high-strength, durable bond or rigid structure is needed.
What 2KM machines are best suited to processing epoxy?
It depends on your formulation's viscosity: the PGM 100 range suits low-viscosity epoxy up to 5,000 mPas, the PGM 200 and PGM 320 handle mid-to-high viscosity epoxy up to 50,000 mPas, and the PGM 400 and PGM 420 are built for the highest-viscosity epoxy pastes dispensed directly from pails or drums.
Can the machines condition my epoxy material to ensure it is optimally processed?
Yes - on-board de-gassing is available where a formulation needs it to avoid voids in the cured part, and several PGM machines offer optional heating and agitation to keep filled or temperature-sensitive epoxy systems ready to process.
Which industries rely on epoxy dispensing?
Epoxy is a core material across marine, aerospace, automotive, motorsport, and electronics -anywhere structural bonding strength or precision potting and encapsulation is required.
Does 2KM offer access to demonstration units to help validate a new material or process?
Yes - 2KM has a full test facility for process evaluation and proof of concept before purchase, plus lease and hire options for longer-term on-site testing before you commit.
