METERING AND MIXING SYSTEMS
PGM 420
PGM 420 systems for the metering, mixing and application of high-viscosity materials directly from supplied containers, with full PC-based control systems and mass flowmeter monitoring for verified, traceable ratio accuracy.
The PGM 420 is built on exactly the same platform as the PGM 400 - the same follower plates, pneumatic ram presses, and drum or pail-fed metering that eliminates decanting and air entrapment. What it adds is control: a 2KM proprietary computer with a 10-inch touchscreen and mass flowmeter monitoring, recording ratio accuracy throughout the process rather than relying on periodic checks.
This makes the PGM 420 the specification of choice wherever mix ratio accuracy needs to be documented and recorded - most commonly in wind energy and aerospace applications, where that traceability is often a customer or certification requirement rather than a nice-to-have.

MATERIAL COMPATIBILITY
The PGM 420 processes the same range of viscous, reactive materials as the PGM 400 - the platforms are identical in every respect except control system.
Compatible Materials
Processing Capabilities
- Wide mix ratio materials (1:1 through to 10:1).
- High viscosity products (over 50,000 mPas).
- Single and multi-component materials.
- Full mass flowmeter monitoring and data logging of ratio accuracy throughout production.
KEY
INFORMATION
Same follower-plate, drum/pail-fed metering as the PGM 400 - no decanting, no air entrapment risk.
2KM proprietary computer control with 10-inch touchscreen - control and monitoring at the point of application.
Mass flowmeter monitoring records ratio accuracy throughout production for full traceability.
Flow rates up to 20 litres per minute, with each machine spec'd to suit the customer's specific requirements.
Follower plates with circumferential O-ring seal prevent material leakage and air ingress, wiping container walls as material is dispensed.
SUPPLIER COMPATIBILITY
2KM systems are designed to work with materials from a wide range of manufacturers, giving customers flexibility rather than locking them into a single supplier ecosystem.
The PGM 420 is compatible with products from leading global material manufacturers, meaning customers can continue working with their preferred suppliers while benefiting from 2KM equipment performance and reliability.
This supplier-independent approach supports:
- Easier integration into existing production lines.
- Reduced material supply risk through multi-source capability.
- Improved cost control through competitive supplier pricing.
- Compatibility with established formulations already validated in production.

How the PGM 420 Works
The PGM 420 shares its core mechanism entirely with the PGM 400: volumetric displacement gear pumps, each directly coupled to its own inverter-controlled, geared AC motor, sitting on follower plates inside straight-sided, open top drums or pails. A twin-post pneumatic ram press pushes the follower plate onto the material surface, and the circumferential O-ring seal prevents leakage and air ingress while wiping the container walls as material is dispensed.
Where the PGM 420 goes further is control. A 2KM proprietary computer with a 10-inch touchscreen replaces the standard potentiometer-based control system, and mass flowmeters monitor actual flow rate from each pump in real time - the same closed-loop verification principle used on the PGM 320, adapted to the PGM 400's drum-fed platform. Every batch's ratio accuracy is logged, giving a documented record rather than relying on periodic spot-checks.
This makes the PGM 420 the specification of choice anywhere mix ratio accuracy needs to be proven after the fact - a wind turbine blade bonding process being inspected against certification requirements, for example, or automotive & aerospace applications where full recorded traceability is a mandatory part of the quality record.
Applications
The PGM 420 is used across the same processes as the PGM 400, wherever documented ratio accuracy is also required.
Industries Using the PGM 420
Wind Energy & Renewables - structural adhesive bonding for turbine blade assembly, where mix ratio accuracy increasingly needs to be recorded and certified.
Aerospace - structural bonding where traceable process documentation is part of the quality record.
Sub-Sea & Marine, Structural Glass, Medical, Automotive - the same broader range as PGM 400, wherever the additional traceability of mass flowmeter monitoring is needed.
PGM 420 - FAQs
What is the PGM 420 used for?
The PGM 420 meters, mixes and dispenses the same high-viscosity, two-component materials as the PGM 400 - directly from 20 litre pails or 205 litre drums - with the addition of full PC-based control systems and mass flowmeter monitoring for verified, traceable ratio accuracy. It's specified wherever that documentation matters, particularly in wind energy, medical, automotive and aerospace applications.
What's the difference between the PGM 420 and the PGM 400?
The two machines are built on the same platform, with identical flow rate, viscosity range, mix ratio range, suitable materials and vessel capacities. The difference is entirely in the control system: the PGM 420 adds a 2KM proprietary computer with a 10-inch touchscreen and mass flowmeter monitoring as standard, recording ratio accuracy throughout production, where the standard PGM 400 uses simpler potentiometer-based control (with PC-based control systems and flowmeter monitoring available as an optional upgrade rather than a standard feature).
Which industries rely on the PGM 420?
It's specified across the same industries as the PGM 400, with particular emphasis on wind energy and aerospace, where mix ratio accuracy typically needs to be recorded and certified as part of the production process.
Does 2KM offer access to demonstration units to help validate a new material or process?
Yes - 2KM has a full test facility for process evaluation and proof of concept before purchase, plus lease and hire options for longer-term on-site testing before you commit.
