Fast-curing spray application for durable, weather-resistant protective coatings.
Polyurea Spraying
Polyurea spraying applies a fast-reacting, two-component protective coating directly to a surface - concrete, metal, or vehicle beds - curing within seconds to form a durable, waterproof membrane.
The Polyurea Spraying Process
Because the material reacts so quickly, it has to be metered and mixed accurately right up to the spray gun, not before.
Polyurea spraying draws both components directly from bulk supply, meters them accurately, and delivers the mixed material through a spray gun rather than an extruded bead via a static mixer - necessary because polyurea begins curing within seconds of the two components combining.
- Benefits over other coating methods include extremely fast cure (allowing rapid return to service), excellent durability and moisture resistance, and the ability to coat vertical or overhead surfaces that liquid-poured systems can't reach.
- Moisture-capturing filtration protects the material's chemistry through to application, since polyurea is moisture sensitive.
- Because the material reacts so fast, ratio accuracy has to be correct before spraying begins - there's no opportunity to adjust mid-application.

Materials Used for Polyurea Spraying
- Polyurea - the primary material for this process, viscosity under 10,000 mPas, requiring spray application rather than static mixing.
2KM Machines for Polyurea Spraying
- PGM 100 Spray - 2KM's dedicated polyurea spray system, drawing both components directly from 30 litre hobbocks at flow rates up to 3kg per minute.
Industries Relying on Polyurea Spraying
1. Construction & Infrastructure - waterproofing membranes for concrete structures.
2. Transport & Logistics - protective bed linings for trailers and delivery vehicles.
3. Marine & Offshore - protective coatings, a sector 2KM's own Market Assessment identifies as expanding.
4. Model Making - spraying of polyurea and polyurethane for props and finishes.
Polyurea Spraying - FAQs
What is meant by polyurea spraying, and what are the benefits?
Polyurea spraying applies a fast-reacting, two-component coating directly to a surface, curing within seconds. Benefits include extremely fast return-to-service time, excellent durability and moisture resistance, and the ability to coat vertical or overhead surfaces that other coating methods can't reach.
What materials are generally used for this process?
Polyurea is the primary material, chosen specifically for its fast cure and durability as a protective coating.
What industries might be involved in this process?
Construction and infrastructure for concrete waterproofing, transport and logistics for vehicle bed linings, marine and offshore for protective coatings, and model making for spraying polyurea finishes.
Does 2KM offer a portable, entry level system for small localised jobs where big machines just aren't practical?
Yes - the PGM 100 Spray is built to be lightweight and portable, making it the perfect solution for small localised jobs that large, truck mounted systems just aren’t suited to.
